Georgian College Workforce Development, in responding to employer needs, has developed a suite of E-Learning courses that allows companies and organizations to train their staff on regulatory workplace requirements to maintain a safe and healthy workplace. Health & Safety for ManagersEnsure you are aware of your responsibilities and obligations to provide a safe working environment. Become familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, learn how to read the Act and become knowledgeable on the rights and responsibilities of the worker, supervisor and employer. You will also become familiar with the meaning of due diligence and non-compliance, as it relates to both the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Bill C-45.
Health & Safety Orientation for EmployeesThis orientation course will provide an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of employees and employers under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Also included is an overview of College legislated Health and Safety procedures and related policy links.
Workplace Violence & HarassmentEnsure you are aware of your responsibilities and obligations under Ontario Bill 168, regarding Violence and Harassment in the Workplace. Designed to promote awareness to all members in the workplace, this module will help to ensure employees understand and comply, and comprehend the definitions and obligations.
Community Worker Safety: A Safe Approach to Home VisitingThis E-Learning content will offer an overview of Community Worker Safety guidelines for conducting safe home visiting, based on 3 stages, including: Planning the Visit, During the Visit and Completing the Visit.
WHMISBecome familiar with the requirements of what is known as WHMIS, the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System. Understanding and recognizing hazards and hazardous materials in the workplace helps reduce the risk of injury and illness.
AODA – Customer ServiceThis E-Learning module will help you understand and comply with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) legislation known as the Accessibility Standards for Customer Service. If we make our public spaces more accessible to people with disabilities, we commit to making Ontario a place where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum DisorderFetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder is the most common form of developmental disability in Canada, believed to affect 1 in 100 births. This module provides a basic understanding of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, or FASD, how it is caused, the challenges associated with preventing it and the outcomes for the individual, family and community.
Orientation to PrivacyThis introductory course is divided into 5 sections. The first four sections provide theoretical and legislative information regarding privacy relevant to people working in organizations that utilize personal information in their day to day work. Practical application is then demonstrated through a series of scenarios. Finally, a quiz provides participants with feedback on their understanding of the material. Some sections may include brief video presentations.
Slips, Trips & FallsDo you know what can cause trips or falls? Do you know what to do to prevent slips? Does your workplace have rules or standards for keeping the workplace safe? Do you know your role and responsibilities are? Ensure Workplace Safety is part of your responsibility to help prevent Slips, Trips and Falls!
Routine Practices & Infection Control (IPAC Canada)Developed, over a one year period, by a Pan-Canadian Committee of Infection Control Professionals (ICPs), this curriculum is designed to assist healthcare facilities and staff by offering a step by step overview on best practices for reducing infections through Routine Practices. It includes case studies, simulations, narration, video and questions. Georgian College provides reporting and administration for registered enrollees and organizations and provides an certificate of completion for those achieve the minimum threshold achievement levels in co0mpleting the curriculum.
This is a must for front line workers if an organization wishes to implement Infection Control standardized routine practices across its organization in a cost effective and timely manor that is easy to use and readily accessible.

Workplace ErgonomicsUnderstanding ergonomics helps reduce the risk of injury. Becoming more knowledgeable with your work environment will allow you to be more productive, efficient and safe. Learn to use proper body mechanics when performing work functions, and minimize or eliminate them to reduce the risk of injury by learning how to lift and carry materials in the workplace.
